Ager
Greg Ager is a Managing Director at Signal Hill Updata, and was a Partner at Updata Advisors, joining the firm in 2005. Mr. Ager leads the firm's Enterprise Application Software practice and has extensive relationships with leading venture capital and private equity firms across the IT landscape. He brings to client engagements over 18 years of investment banking experience, having completed more than 770 transactions aggregating over $7 billion in value for emerging and middle market technology companies. Mr. Agers primary transaction experience includes M&A buyside and sellside, IPO and follow-on equity, private placements and convertible securities.
Prior to joining Updata, Mr. Ager was the senior East Coast Technology Investment Banker at Wachovia Securities, Managing Director and Head of East Coast Software. While at Wachovia, he built a successful franchise and completed transactions for clients such as Computer Associates, INFOR Global Solutions, Aspen Technology, Safeguard, Unica, Blackbaud and Vocus.
Earlier, Mr. Ager spent ten years in Silicon Valley where he completed transactions for many industry leaders including Oracle, Novell, Silicon Graphics and 3Com. As a principal in investment banking at Thomas Weisel Partners LLC, he was successful at building the business-to-business e-commerce franchise and was instrumental in winning several high-profile mandates in the IT services sector, including Proxicom and Scient. Prior to joining TWP, Mr. Ager held various roles of increasing responsibility with the Business Services Investment Banking Group at Montgomery Securities, covering IT services. He held similar positions in San Francisco with the technology investment banking groups at Smith Barney and Morgan Stanley. Mr. Ager began his career with the mergers and acquisitions group at Morgan Grenfell in New York.
Mr. Ager received an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.A. in economics and political science from Yale University.
