MacDonald
A Managing Director at Signal Hill Updata, and previously a Partner at Updata Advisors, John advises companies in the IT Services, FinTech, and data center infrastructure sectors. For more than 23 years John has guided large and middle-market technology companies through a variety of M&A and capital raising transactions, completing over 90 deals totaling more than $18 billion in aggregate value. John has worked closely with many leading technology companies including IBM, Accenture, First Data, EMC, Capgemini, Hewlett-Packard, Lucent, AT&T, Unisys, Deluxe Corporation, Ceridian, and Emerson. In addition to these bellwethers, he has also represented numerous middle-market companies such as Aperture, INVESTools, Acclaris, TechTeam Global and EYP Mission Critical Facilities, to name a few.
Prior to Updata, John headed the IT Services Investment Banking group at Lehman Brothers. Under his leadership, the group established itself as one of Wall Street's preeminent advisors in the transaction processing, IT services and information services sectors. Prior to Lehman Brothers, John held senior technology investment banking positions at Bear Stearns and Salomon Brothers.
John received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and his M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Rochester, where he currently serves on its Executive Advisory Council.
